Pricing

Most software development firms won't post their hourly rate or their strategy for determining their prices. We believe that openness about our pricing allows you to make better decisions, promotes honesty and transparency, and ultimately provides us with better feedback for future projects and estimates. Please don't hesitate to ask us if you have any questions about the cost of your project.

We typically bill hourly, rather than making fixed bids. We feel that this provides the best value for our customers by reflecting the true costs of the project.

The hourly rate for our development and consulting services is $150 per hour. We don't usually charge for the initial meeting unless it goes for more than a couple hours or if we're already doing significant development at that point. In all cases, we'll let you know when the clock starts, and what kind of costs you can expect.

Estimates

Once we've roughed out the project's scope, we'll try to put together an estimate of the project's total cost for you. This estimate will be based off of similar projects that we've done in the past. There's no guarantee that this estimate will be the same as your final cost, but it should give you a rough idea of what you're getting into for budgeting purposes.

As the project progresses, we'll let you know if unforeseen circumstances cause us to think that the final cost will be significantly different than the last estimate that we originally gave you.

Expenses

Our hourly rate does not include other commercial software licenses or services that you may need to complete your project. Examples would be hosting the web application after it's completed, or purchasing an additional license for software that must run on the finished production server. We'll alert you to these expenses as soon as we can anticipate them.

We're usually happy to travel to our clients' sites if it's requested. We will charge the normal rate for our time, and will ask to be reimbursed for reasonable travel expenses. For local clients we usually don't charge anything for travel time or expenses.

Billing

We'll typically invoice monthly while working on a project. Sometimes, if the project can be broken into sensible units of work, we'll invoice after each preset milestone. You'll have 30 days to pay each invoice.
